Ferry operator DFDS marked national Fish & Chip Day (Friday 6 June) by launching a mouth-watering new partnership with Harry Ramsden’s to offer the best fish and chips on the Channel.
Harry Ramsdens’ world famous fish and chips are now exclusively available to passengers crossing the Channel in the 7Seas restaurant onboard all six of the ferry company’s Dover to Calais and Dover to Dunkirk ships.
To mark the launch of the partnership, the companies collaborated on a series of pop-up events on the Channel. Brand mascots Harry the Haddock and Jack the Pirate joined forces onboard the company’s ships to entertain passengers with interactive activities and giveaways. Passengers were offered the chance to win exclusive Harry Ramsden’s prizes and free crossings with DFDS and took part in a vote to choose their favourite sauce to eat with their fish and chips, with tomato ketchup coming out on top.
The partnership is the first of its kind for the ferry operator and is the latest initiative designed to upgrade the passenger experience onboard and increase sales in the restaurant.
Steven Newbery, director of DFDS’ global onboard services, said: “This exciting new partnership with Harry Ramsdens’ is a great match of two heritage brands that will enhance the quality of our onboard offer. Fish and chips is the most popular dish we serve onboard, and by proudly serving Harry Ramsdens’ world-famous fish and chips we can offer our passengers a unique dining experience on the Channel.”
Mikayla Whittle, director of franchise and licensing at Hary Ramsden’s said: “We’re proud to bring Harry Ramsden’s to the high seas in partnership with DFDS – a brand that shares our heritage, values, and commitment to quality. This collaboration allows us to serve our iconic fish and chips to thousands of travellers each day, offering them a true taste of Britain while crossing the Channel.
